My Story
I hope the following introduction video and story will help you learn more about me, how I train and become a Chinese language instructor since 2017, and how I interact with my students along Chinese language learning journey. ✨

My teaching journey began in 2015, when I worked as an English teacher for Taiwanese middle and high school students. After graduating with my bachelor’s degree, I briefly joined an international company in business, but soon realized business wasn’t the right path for me. What I truly wanted was to pursue a master’s degree abroad and build a career in education.
That dream came true when I was awarded an scholarship to study for an M.A. in Applied Linguistics at Texas Tech University (TTU) while teaching Chinese as a Graduate Part-Time Instructor. Before starting, I trained at Washington University in St. Louis (WASHU), where I completed an intensive summer program and earned my certificate in teaching Chinese as a foreign language.

At TTU, I taught Mandarin at all levels, conducted research, co-authored academic papers, and presented at ACTFL conferences. I also organized cultural events like Chinese Calligraphy and Karaoke contests, and taught in the STARTALK summer immersion program. Supporting my students was one of the most rewarding parts of the job—whether helping them win scholarships, secure internships, or study abroad in Taiwan and China.
After completing my master’s degree, I continued teaching in U.S. higher education. At Texas Christian University (2019–2020), I taught Intermediate and Advanced Chinese as well as Chinese Calligraphy, achieving a 90% student retention rate. The following year, I was honored to be selected by Taiwan’s Ministry of Education to serve as a Lecturer of Chinese at Rice University (2020–2022). At Rice, I worked closely with the CLIC department, promoted study abroad programs in Taiwan, and administered the official TOCFL (Test of Chinese a a Foreign Language) exam.

After five years of teaching Chinese in the U.S., I felt it was time to return home to Taiwan. In 2022, I founded Mastering Mandarin, my online teaching platform. Since then, I have taught over 3,000 hours of online lessons to students around the world.
My mission is simple:
✨ Help you explore Taiwanese Mandarin and culture 🇹🇼
✨ Guide you to master real-life Chinese for everyday situations
✨ Build your confidence and fluency so you can connect with family, friends, colleagues, or your Chinese community
I hope you enjoy learning Chinese and that it opens new doors for you to see the world from a new perspective.
